Sergeant Trever Alsup (retired) served more than 25 years with the Las Vegas, Nevada, Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD). He spent most of his career conducting complex criminal investigations while assigned to the Violent Crimes Section and the Force Investigation Team. Sergeant Alsup has responded to countless traumatic calls and critical incidents. As a detective, Sergeant Alsup participated in more than 2,000 death investigations and more than 90 use-of-deadly-force incidents. He was also the lead investigator for the Las Vegas Route 91 mass casualty incident in October 2017. Sergeant Alsup was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder from repeated traumas suffered throughout his military and law enforcement career, and he has a keen interest in officer mental health and ending the stigma associated with it. He believes officer mental health and wellness should be brought to the forefront and treated with the same tenacity as other officer safety issues. Prior to joining the LVMPD, Sergeant Alsup served for four years as a U.S. Navy hospital corpsman with the 1st Marine Division.
