Is there a cost to attend?

No. This training is funded by BJA and is free to all sworn officers employed by state, local, tribal, and territorial law enforcement agencies. In addition, if space allows, nonsworn agency support staff, such as dispatchers/telecommunicators, chaplains, and peer support team members; corrections professionals; and federal law enforcement are welcome to attend SAFLEO training.

Is in-service training credit available?

Many SAFLEO trainings are certified through the IADLEST National Certified Program™. Trainings that do not offer credit through IADLEST still offer a certificate of attendance.

Are federal law enforcement officers allowed to attend?

While this training is primarily for state, local, and tribal officers, federal law enforcement officers may attend on a space-available basis.

Suicide prevention starts with you, the law enforcement executive. Attend this forum of law enforcement leaders to dive deeper into policy and strategic planning surrounding suicide prevention and response. Through guided instruction and facilitated discussions, you will learn about the underlying causes of suicide, explore a variety of solutions for both you and your agency, and consider ways for your organization to overcome barriers to help-seeking encountered by your officers.

This training is a virtual, self-paced course that concludes with a live roundtable event.

During this training, you will:

·         Discover the underlying causes of suicide.

·         Identify solutions to overcome the stigma of help-seeking.

·         Identify protective factors that promote strength and resilience.

·         Develop an action plan specific to your agency.
