Is there a cost to attend?

No. This training is funded by BJA and is free to all sworn officers employed by state, local, tribal, and territorial law enforcement agencies. In addition, if space allows, nonsworn agency support staff, such as dispatchers/telecommunicators, chaplains, and peer support team members; corrections professionals; and federal law enforcement are welcome to attend SAFLEO training.

Are travel and lodging costs covered?

No. Participants are responsible for associated travel and lodging expenses.

Is in-service training credit available?

Many SAFLEO trainings are certified through the International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training (IADLEST) National Certification Program™. Trainings that do not offer credit through IADLEST still offer a certificate of attendance, which may be submitted to your state law enforcement authority for credit.

What is the dress code for this training?

This training is strictly classroom-based. Appropriate dress is business casual or uniform, if required by your agency.

Are federal law enforcement officers allowed to attend?

While this training is primarily for state, local, and tribal officers, federal law enforcement officers may attend on a space-available basis.

Overview:

If you are in a leadership or supervisory position, you are an influencer within your agency. You are a role model for those under your charge. Duty, empowerment, responsibility, ownership, and accountability are important concepts that you must demonstrate to and encourage in the people you lead. During this highly interactive training, you will have the opportunity to exchange ideas, strategies, and best practices and create a specific and individualized action plan.

This continuing education activity is approved by the International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training (IADLEST) and deemed valid for the purpose of in-service training credits with all participating states within the United States.

Training will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a 1-hour break for lunch (on your own).
