Is there a cost to attend?

No. This training is funded by BJA and is free to all sworn officers employed by state, local, tribal, and territorial law enforcement agencies. In addition, if space allows, nonsworn agency support staff, such as dispatchers/telecommunicators, chaplains, and peer support team members; corrections professionals; and federal law enforcement are welcome to attend SAFLEO training.

Are travel and lodging costs covered?

No. Participants are responsible for associated travel and lodging expenses.

Is in-service training credit available?

Many SAFLEO trainings are certified through the International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training (IADLEST) National Certification Program™. Trainings that do not offer credit through IADLEST still offer a certificate of attendance, which may be submitted to your state law enforcement authority for credit.

What is the dress code for this training?

This training is strictly classroom-based. Appropriate dress is business casual or uniform, if required by your agency.

Are federal law enforcement officers allowed to attend?

While this training is primarily for state, local, and tribal officers, federal law enforcement officers may attend on a space-available basis.

Law enforcement is exposed to significantly more trauma than the general population. This can result in high levels of chronic stress that must be managed effectively to avoid negative impact. This workshop is designed to provide officers with proactive strategies to mitigate these unique stressors, resulting in increased resilience and enhanced wellness. This training event is appropriate for staff at all levels of the organization and focuses on individual strategies for wellness building.

This training event will provide:

· An understanding of how chronic stress impacts the human psyche

· An exploration of protective strategies and practices that can build resilience and mitigate the negative impact of stress

· An exploration of post-traumatic stress and how to find the path forward

· The creation of an individualized plan designed to keep officers safe at work and improve their quality of life

This training is open to sworn law enforcement professionals and civilian support staff.
